Default Murphy

I volunteer to do a PP article on Murphy's guns. Perhaps it will be a series?

I'd love to hear the provenance on that Daly trap gun.

#2415, standard Diamond, not sextuple.

Frank, I made a mistake, it is a Sextuple. Almost everyone has seen the widely printed picture of Sousa holding his Daly. It is often misidentified as his Grade 7 Ithaca Flues. Recently, I have found two more pictures of Sousa holding the Daly and one of him holding the AAH Parker. Those three pictures were accessed from the Library of Congress. I haven't received the prints yet, so I don't know what the quality is.

Yup, before I discovered these recent two pictures, the picture Drew posted was the only picture of Sousa with the famous Daly. At one time, I think Drew sent me a clearer version of this picture than I had at the time. Thanks, Drew.

If anyone is interested in seeing pictures of the Sousa Daly, many pictures are in Double Gun Journal, Summer 2013 in an article posted by my friend and neighbor Tom Breeden and myself. Another Sousa shotgun is pictured in an article in a fairly recent Remington Society Journal, also authored by Tom Breeden and me.

I used to enjoy shooting at Quantico when I was stationed at the Pentagon. Most of my trigger time was spent over on Range Four the high power range shooting round targets. Fun but not the same as clay targets. If I'd have had my SC that would have been reversed.
