Default 2-1/2 or 2-3/4 shells.

Hi All.
Are Remington parker guns proof for 2-3/4inch-1-1/4oz shells?
Was this the proof test at the parker works or is it 2-1/2 inch only and
1-1/8 oz
My gun has BRIT proof marks for 2-1/2 inch only shells but as it's first proof
test was at the parker works can i shoot 2-3/4-1-1/4oz .
The gun is a 12 bore VHE 1937.

All the best Dave.

Rem Parker and later Parker guns were proofed at 15,500 psi with a service load of 10,500, which was the SAAMI max (Small Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute).

Parker intended your 1/2 frame 12ga for 2 3/4" 1 1/8oz at 3 drams, or 1200fps.

Yes you can shoot 1 1/4oz loads, might be a little harsh on your shoulder with a light gun.

Remember that not all 2 1/2" are created equal. I had some Fiocchi which were high pressure and BRUTAL. That is also true of all other sizes. The Superfox 3" gets bulged chambers from modern 3".
