Default 2023 Missouri Archery buck

I had several nice ones on game cam pics this fall, this one was my no1 target. Nice tall heavy 8 point, probably 5 year old buck. He was pushing 250lb live weight...

Came strolling by eating acorns Friday night around 6:15 pm, I am now hunting with a Mission SUB1 crossbow, he only went 75 yards and piled up.

Even after all these years, it still gets my heart pumping. It was a good 30 minutes from time I first saw him, until he presented a good shoot opportunity. Now I can concentrate on taking other hunters out this fall. I have several first timers I am hoping to get on their first deer.

Nice buck, congrats. Unfortunately my outlook is not so promising this year. Trail cameras have revealed nothing to get excited about, maybe 135". EHD has apparently taken its toll in my neighborhood, adjoining property owner found 11 dead deer this year. Oddly while shed hunting we found none on my place. Neighbor runs several trail cameras also, while they have several deer that I have not seen they have nothing big. Hoping the rut will bring a biggun in from somewhere..... Congrats again !!

Been hearing of some EHD in MO this year. I did find a dead one Sunday morning, had pics of him on 10/2 and he looked fine. By looks of what was left of carcass, he'd been dead at least a week to 10 days.... So he died soon after my last pic of him. We had an antlerless rifle season on the weekend of 10/8. I guess someone could have shot him, and didn't recover, but you never know, deer die all the times.... Heck, someone could have hit him with a car, and he made it down there where I found him, and then yotes got to him.

Came strolling by eating acorns Friday night around 6:15 pm, I am now hunting with a Mission MXB crossbow, he only went 75 yards and piled up.

Nice buck, congratulations! Mission makes a great crossbow. I've got a SUB 1.

North Missouri grows ‘em big. That’s a great one!
