I have found a magazine ad from 1968 that shows that style box, however, they say MONARK, LEAGUE or CHAMPION (red stripe) --

Thirty some years later I can still remember friends digging thru the trash cans at the variouse skeet fields I used to frequent looking for 12 gauge paper Federal's !

They all "claimed" paper Federal reloads had less recoil . Truth or fiction I cannot say as I didn't notice any difference .

I was going to shoot them at Woodcock, guess I should keep them and just shoot RST #10's at Woodcock.

Well if you want a great load for hunting it's hard to beat Federal paper, I use there 3 dram 1 1/8 oz # 7 1/2 load for grouse and they have that magic smell after you fire them. There is just something special about hunting with paper shells, I also shoot RST paper 2 1/2 " in 12ga ,16ga & 20ga.

Many of us are still shooting and reloading Federal papers. Nothing smells as good.

I reload them twice, could probably get a third, but I don't push it. Back in my youth, when I started reloading, the Federal paper hull was the hull of choice for reloading. The trap fields were littered with Western Xperts, Winchester Ranger, Remington Shut-Shot and Peters Victor hulls, but every Federal was scarfed up. Federal primer, 23 grains of Red Dot, a nitro card, two Felton Blue Streaks and 1 1/8 ounce of shot. The first step towards modernization was the PGS (Plastic Gas Seal) to replace the nitro card which allowed a powder cut to 18 grains of Red Dot.

I did start reloading in the pie-crimp era, never did a roll crimp.

I wish I had a dollar for each box of factory loaded paper Federal’s I shot in the 70’s 80’s and early 90’s
