Not having the opportunity to hunt quail for years, this image is wasted on me. Is it a turkey beard thrusting out from behind a tree, or a horse's ass with a bobbed show tail disappearing in the opposite direction? And what is the relationship of the image to the hunting of quail? Being a Yankee, none of this is apparent to me. Please advise.

Its a gobbler
hiding behind a tree
thanking goodness it is finally quail season
this means turkey season is over
so he's happy he won't get shot
sort of like the tv and billboard commercials
where the cow says
"eat more chicken"
(the cow is implying that
if you eat chicken more often
you won't eat beef)

Sorry you don't get to hunt quail! (because hunting quail with a 20 bore Parker is fun).

Happy Thanksgiving.
