Default Quails Fargo

I know this is not a Parker or a classic and probably never will be,however, a friend of mine claimed he had one as a young man in the 60's. He said it was a Savage Fox Model B that was redone by Simmons rib company. It had a straight stock, vent rib,20ga., etc. Any info would be helpful. Thanks, Jim

Jim,
You may get more info over on the fox collectors site. I don't remember the Model B being available in straight grip.

Simmons Gun Specialties moved from downtown KC out to Olathe, KS in the late 60s or so. I looked in my 1964 catalog and they were still downtown and did not offer a Quails Fargo, but sold Fox Model Bs and Winchester 21s and 12s.

Next door to the new place was a gun shop (and still is under different ownership) operated by Dave Parker called..The Gun Shop I believe he sold some 'Quails Fargo' guns and may have had his 'Parker' name on some.

One ad for the Quails Fargo by Dakin referred to it as an "import". Maybe Dakin sold some Union Armera guns under the "Quails Fargo" name. I got that information on google.

A couple more Google hits.

This off a GunBroker forum:

During the sixties, Simmons Specialties, whose niche in the firearms market is high-quality ventilated ribs and replacement/accessory barrels with their VR's, decided to offer their own branded Shotgun. They contracted with Savage/Stevens to convert a variant of the Stevens Model 311 20 gauge, manufacture the barrel at 24" vs. 26/28/30 inches, use a case colored hammerless boxlock receiver, convert from double triggers to a single trigger, and then Simmons would install their vent rib with high visability "glow-worm" front bead. The barrels are not Belgium, but rather stock 311 grade barrels. They ceased production of this shotgun in 1969. There were not many of these produced, but I have yet to find out just how many.
