Default Fondling Wood

Went to a buddy of mine yesterday to look over some blanks. Jim has been in the wood business for several years & is starting to ramp things down some. I have a couple of projects in mind and thought I would see what he had.

I thought I would share my day with you. This is what I came away with.

Very nice stuff. And looks like there was a lot to choose from.

I have to make a trip up into way UP State NY in a few weeks to make a bulk buy of about 50 circassian walnut blanks. And half of them are top quality.

It is always good to have a choice of wood when you want to stock a gun.

Just curious on opinions if any of these blanks would be appropriate for a BH grade restock job??

Feel free to add your 2 cents worth.

Yes.... of the three blanks on the table, the lower one would be very nice on a Grade 5.
