All of the reproductions I have handled are stamped with an upper case "I" on the front barrel lug. What does it signify?

That's a good question Gary. We've talked about the "I" and "F" stampings previously here, but came to no definitive conclusions regarding the "I" stamping.

Maybe they're simply the stamp of the barrel maker (a la J.G.) and/or the Final Inspection...?
