Default struttin' time in the north

Not me dummy! The ruffies! My neighbor took these in his yard recently. This guy really knows his way around a camera.

Sorry turkey hunters, but these grouse photos beat a turkey any day. Great!

Well, if the turkeys don't start cooperating, I may have to move north and take up grouse hunting. Even the pros down here are having a rough time. Word has it that the people getting them around here are shooting them out of roosts or otherwise taking them in unsportsmanlike ways.

We are spending Christmas in the NC mountains and hope to try grouse while there. It is something I want to get into

Well Mills, if you're like a lot of us "Brush Worn Partridge Hunters" you'll be immediately hooked for life.... it will become an obsession - you'll have dreams and nightmares about pa'tridge. So throw away those 8 and 10 gauge guns - you'll never hit a pa'tridge with those. Oh, and by the way, invest in some good chaps.

I have a 16 gauge I bought from an ad in Parker Pages that ought to be perfect. The Russell folks are going to be at Brays Island this weekend.

I would love a Damascus GH 28 gauge. One of these days . . .
