Default Clair Reed new from Tn

I have #63605 Damascus barrel field grade 12 ga double barrel Parker that has been in our family since it was new. My great uncle Bert bought it in Chicago about 1897 -1898 as a gift for my father who was born Oct. 1897. The gun has a quite a history in our family. I have had the great pleasure of a successful hunt with this gun in 1960,s. The gun has the 2 5/8 chambers and uses black powder.

Welcome, Clair! Sounds like a special gun you have. Feel free to share some pictures and more of the gun's history. If you have any questions, we have some knowledgeable folks on here

You should get a letter for your gun. Whats the barrel length. If the barrels are in good shape you could fire light smokeless loads from RST in your gun. Straight grip GH grades are a little hard to come by.

Check the trigger guard backstrap. That gun didn't start life with a straight grip.

I see your album now. Nice looking gun! I am a fan of early GH grades. The geese are on the floorplate which was seen more on the early ones

Default Photos of trigger guard

Have added detailed pictures to the album. Hope they answer some questions.
We had a tag from Parker Brothers where they had patterned the gun that showed the load used, distance, and shot count from each barrel.

Dave is correct. I should have had my glasses on. The checkering was a dead give away.

Thanks guys, my father probably turned it into a straight stock as he was a true craftsman.
