Default Gap Between Barrels at the Muzzles

I just started a thread on the Parker Reproductions sub forum regarding the gap on Repros and how it may be the result of very late Remington-Parkers (Ilion) having been used for the basis of Repro production.

Discussion invited -

I am hoping to get folks to examine the muzzles of their late Ilion Parkers for barrels not touching. Please take a look and post your findings here.

Thank You!

My CHE 20 is a Late 1937 gun Serial # 240983 w/26" Barrels that touch at the end of the muzzle ! Maybe this isn't as late as you are looking for Dean ,the serial # closest to this that I own at the moment is just before Remington !

Thanks Russ, probably as you say, not late enough. Do your barrel flats have the Remington stamp of OVERLOAD PROVED above and below the words PARKER GUN WORKS ?

Is there a top rib legend?

I think the barrels without a rib legend and the PARKER GUN WORKS proof stamp are the barrels we need to be looking at for the space between the barrels.

Yes they do Dean ! I thought this would give you a starter Serial # and maybe you can get an idea of when the feature you are looking for may have started !

Thanks Russ - so 240983 barrels touch at the muzzle. Could be a starting point for sure.

239380 a 1937 16 gauge with 26” barrels and 240921 a 1937 20 gauge with 26” barrels. There is no gap at muzzle.
