Default I may need intervention.

After trying to pump the brakes on gun purchases the last few months, i think my foot slipped off the brake pedal and mashed down the foot feed.

Bought a straight stock lefever 12 two weeks ago, a WC F Scott 8 bore that Pete Lester turned me on to yesterday, that I bought yesterday, and tonight was the successful bidder on a pretty decent Iver Johnson Skeet-Er 20.

The last gun before that was a pretty toasty G grade top lever 12 hammer that I have not decided if I love it or not yet.

Maybe I need to start playing more golf....

Mark I have had a similar trend myself the last few months. I think we just have accept the there are worse problems to have than being addicted to fine double guns.

I "won" a 12 gauge English Pinfire in the last Rock Island Auction. I had always wanted one and this is nice in every regard. Now I need to figure out shells. What was I thinking, that is going to be a big production for something I need to be extra careful with.

Before that I bought a few nice Parkers on the PGCA forum. I also bought a 1 of 2 Grade 3 lifter with laminated barrels 10 gauge Parker(I had no choice on that one right?). I also bought a W.C. Scott hammerless 12 gauge made in 1878. Add a few other late night Gun Broker bids and some other random auctions and let's just say I have had to hide a few things from my wife.

Luckily in this group we all welcome the "problem". My only intervention is in regard to your golf comment...don't you need to be getting set up to reload 8 gauge shells?

I would embrace the addiction and those are some nice guns you have added to your collection.

Golf wouldn’t help your affliction Mark.
Your game would suffer badly because your mind would be on the next gun you “need”(want).

You fellas made me peek at my gun log to check the activity thus far this year. It appears I may have early symptoms of a condition similar to that of which you speak. Not nearly as advanced as yours Mark but then again FedEx is scheduled to deliver Monday

Jay,

I thought that Ballard Brass made pinfire cartridges. They were purchased by Rocky Mountain Cartridges. I looked and didn't see any. However I did find they had 24 gauge pinfire cases in their inventory marked "no longer made." They would be the first person I would contact. https://www.rockymountaincartridge.com/products.htm I found a supply of them in England https://www.henrykrank.com/reloading...ire-cases.html Ross Seyfried wrote a great article about reloading pinfire cases decades ago in Guns and Ammo.

Thanks Harry,

I have been doing lots of research. I like this evolution in cartridge design, while short lived it was the latest and greatest in its day. And as I mentioned I have always just wanted one.I will post some pictures of the pinfire shotgun in another thread. It is a nice gun and I'll figure out the shells.

While pricey, I ordered 2 of these to see if they will work and then I will likely order 18 more: http://www.hlebooks.com/pinfire/cal16-01.htm

I contacted Rocky Mountain Cartridge and they don't make Pinfire shotshells any more. Though they are making some brass 12b shotshells for me.

On the henrykrank website I didn't see and 12 gauge shells just 12mm , they do have a lot of neat stuff on there.

I will check out that article you mentioned. I have run across a few people who were modifying modern primers and plastic shotshells and getting them to work well.

Default Diversity is the name of the game

Mark looks to me you took isolation to an extreme when you went to your cabin in Baffin. Trouble is you must still have WiFi and Internet service. That will get you in trouble every time. Nice scoring just knock out a wall and add more gun closets. Maybe this means a new kitchen but not in Baffin!!!!

Anxious to get both the 8 bore and the Skeet-er. Here are some sellers pics of the Skeet-er. Interesting that it was special ordered with Cyl in the right and Full in the left. Seems almost all i have ever seen are Sk in SK out.

The .410 Skeet-er with two sets of factory barrels were Skeet choked in one set and the other set must have been ordered as hunting chokes - full and skeet.
