Default Memories if a Carolina Bird Hunter

I recently bought a DHE 16 from an old time wing shooter from South Carolina, and he sent me a copy of his book, Memories of a Carolina Bird Hunter. It was a treat when my wife brought it into the hospital for me. Because of the wondeful drugs the're giving me, I've been able to read the first paragraph, at least 12 times. Each time is a new experience. It's not a thick book, so at this rate I figure I'll finish it around September. Lots of mention of his favorite Parker, a VH 16ga, 26", which was my dad's first gun too.
The author's name is John L. Frierson, and I've had several great converstions with him. He's a right-proper Southern Gentleman, and makes me feel like we're all sitting around a woodstove in some cabin.

Edgar,
I hope your recovery goes well. I spoke with Mr. Frierson last night and he asked how you were doing. There will be a review of his book in the spring issue of PP. John is a PGCA member and in the book he describes what it was like growing up a bird hunter in the south. At 82 years of age he's seen a lot of changes and has many stories to tell.

Hi Larry. Yes, he said the two of you had been talking. It's a real treat to have people like that to talk with. Other than my dog, few conversations can keep my attention that long. Conversations that become chapters in our life-book are few and infrequent. If I wasn't on my cellphone, the conversation could have gone well into the night. All we needed was a campfire, some ice and a bottle of Macallan.

Edgar, Get well, that bottle of Macallan can be opened by the fire when you return home. Gary, You know I think I will have a Dark and Stormy right now and lift the glass in a toast to you!
