Default 8 ga info...

tonite i sat down and tried to see what was the same parts and what was not the same parts between these two parker 8 ga s...first 8 ga is alifter of 1882 make serial no. 25403 the secound 8 ga was afishtail hammergun of 1892 make serial no65145...heres what i fonnd to be the same...the fore arm will interchange no problems same every thing...the hammers will interchange though a little differant looking... the extractor is the same...fireing pins the same both are free floating...screws that hold fireing pins in the same.... now heres what want fit for sure...the barrel will not interchange the barrel lugs are very differant...the lugs could be changed by a master gun smith...there is no dolls head on the lifter 8 but there is on the fishtail 8.... i have not gone any farther with my finds and probably want...ther may possible be a few internal parts that are the same but that will have to wait for another time..im sure theres some of you guys out there that know these things backwards and forwards but these are my amature findings...
the lifter parker is in good shooting shape the fishtail i got from mills just this week...hope to have it shooting someday... hope this helps someone outin the restoring part...i know there aint much info on these old 8s and the interchange of parts.... charlie

There are rounded lug lifters and there are three lug, check hook lifters. Which one is the Silent Auction gun, Charlie?

the pictures of thelug end of the barrels is on the silent auction 8 ga thread...please look and give opinion...the 3 lug gun is the lifter 8 the rough set of barrel arethe fishtail 8... is it possible to put the rounded set of lugs on the 3 lug frame... i believe this is possible and i believe this has whats been done to this gun the fishtail silent auction gun... on the main frame of the gun the pin that goes thru the main frame is removed...this is the pin behind the big hinge pin...i believe this pin to be where a 3 lugs secound hook would have caught on to frame...hope im not confusing yall... charlie
