Default Under lug

I think someone in their infinite wisdom saw fit to grind a bevel on the front of the underlug of my lifter barrels .

Would it be possible to see a side view of the under lugs on the barrels of someones lifter gun . If it matters to the profile my gun is an 1881 so it is a radius gun . And 10 gauge .

The back of the bolting out should have a slight contour to it.

This is the case with all Parker barrels from lifters all the way up to hammerless guns.

Thanks , I'm pretty sure someone rounded it with a Dremel or some such . My gunsmith buddy oughtta be able to get it back in a more reasonable shape I think !

Craig, would you please show us a picture of the bevel you're referring to?

Well we welded on the lug a bit and I got a mill file and squared it up nicely . My gunsmith buddy also welded the little piece inside the action that the lug pushes against and then he filed that .

Put a spring in it and the lifter now works very nicely .

Now all I need to do is fix the non Parker stock that someone saw fit to put on the gun awhile back .
