Default Ithaca NID grade 2 12 bore

I finally got the better end of a deal! Found this gun in a local shop...a friend gave me a heads up about it because he knew I fancied Ithaca doubles. Circa 1926 with Belgium barrels.

Sorry, but the only Ithaca wood there might be in the forearm. Still a beautiful gun with a nice restoration.

From the 1926 Ithaca Gun Co. large catalog --

1926 NID No. 2.jpg

Note the grip checkering pattern. That was the pattern used on the No. 2 from the introduction of the first Ithaca hammerless until WW-II. Also, the shape of the grip isn't that of a 1926 NID grip.
