I just bought a very nice condition 410 ga Iver Johnson Skeeter. Took it to the Club this morning to shoot a rpound of skeet with it. I noticed that when breaking the gun open, the top level does not stay open to the right as my other sxs's., but returns to the center position on the frame. The gun closes fine never the less. There is no cross bolt but looks like a plunger. Anyway can anyone shed light on how the top lever is supposed to work? Thanks in advance
Your top lever is working as designed. The lever returns to center when the gun is opened, and when closing the gun , the top lever will move to the right, then back to center when the barrels are fully closed. You will not have to touch the top lever when closing the gun.
