Default 1885

I feel as if I walked into the gun shop at 302 Broadway NYC in 1885, put down my $85 Dollars, received a few complimentary perks, and left with a huge parker smile on my face... Can you see my horse and cart waiting out front for me. HV

What a great picture of the Daly establishment. Most of us own at least one Parker that came from Daly. Thanks.

Perhaps these pics from 1903 of the main entry and gun shop will be of interest. It was the Vincent building owned and erected by the famous Astor family. At this location SD&G bought out John Moore and sons in the late 1880's. Unfortunately the bld. was torn down in the early 1960's. What a shame... what stands there now pales in comparison. HV

I wonder if they had sales tax in 1885.

Default Shop floor plan

Attached is the bld. layout, floor plan for the gun shop and an architectural artists rendition of the first floor hall way to enter the shop. That visual would get anyone who entered in the shopping spirit. They just don't build them that way anymore. Fordham Law School occupied the bld. in the 1940's. HV

Thanks, very interesting. Plus it's a real treat to come on this site and see an old photo without someone's initials stuck across the middle.
