Default Tomorrow is opening day of bob white season!

Taking my Parker VH 16, 28" barrels, 5lbs 13oz and my five French Brittanys - Molly Red, Belle, Ginger, and Buddy.

Have the dog boots and duct tape in the house warming up over the heater vent so the boots will stay on. A box of RST Vintagers (7/8oz of 7-1/2s) sets in the truck. My hunting boots are by the front door. The truck is gassed, the dog-water containers full, the GPS tracking collars are acharging.

Supposed to be a high in the fifties so not too hot for the dogs. Low in the twenties so too cold for the rattlesnakes.

I have anecdotal reports indicating the possibility of a quail population large enough to be huntable. Will know sometime tomorrow if my lease will be hunted this season.

Meeting my friend at the lease at 7:00AM. He is cooking breakfast. I am bringing lunch (cold fried chicken, bananas, and apples)

Just got back in last night from hunting huns, sharptails, and pheasant for sixteen straight days in Montana. We are all in shape and ready to go.

I love the fall and winter! Those two are the best seasons of the year!

Best,

Mike

Charlie thanks for the well wishes. The right choke is .008" and tapers all the way to the muzzle - the choke is 2" long. The left is .012 and tapers for 4". I think they are both factory original. Haven't ordered a letter to see.

Thanks Rick!

Mike, you're only 350 miles away from me. Send some down here to San Antonio.
Those of us that have to work all weekend are jelous.
Really, have a great hunt and show us some great pics.
Also. always push the birds to the south, maybe they will migrate to my area.

Walked all day and found four covies. For every adult bird there were four half grown babies. The cover was really thick. I didn't come close to checking out the entire lease though. I still have hope but not optimism.

Paul I hunted wild bob whites a couple of hours Southwest of San Antonio a couple of seasons ago. We found some.

Best,

Mike
