Default F/S sear springs

I'm posting this for a friend. He had these cut out of spring steel using a EDM machine. Obviously they will need to be fitted. My friend a michanist couldn't find a replacement set for his Parker so he cut them out. He has fitted them to his VH 12ga and hasn't found a problem yet. He wants 25.00 a spring or 40 for a set. I don't know if this reasonable, i guess if you need a spring it is.

I think $25 per is very reasonable. If someone doesn't think so he should try making one with a hack-saw and a file.

I agree with Dean, it will save anyone a lot of time even for the fitting that is required. Out of curiosity, what material are the springs cut out of? Are the springs cut out in that shape or are they bent to this shape? Assuming they are already heat treated and require a bit of thinning to lighten them up, Id say you have a good product there and the price isnt bad. Ive never tried to make a spring out of anything but conventional lengthwise grained 1075 or 1095, just curious how the spring reacts to heat treating if its cut out in that shape with an EDM.

Spring steel is generally between 1050-1095. The parts shown could easily be cut from a solid piece of heat treated 1075 but the grain would not run the length of the spring and therefore would not have the same characteristics as a spring that was properly formed with correct grain direction. That being said these springs may do the job just fine and if properly fitted last a long time. It will be interesting to see how long they last.

Travis--I find myself in need of a 2 frame RH sear spring for an EH 10 ga. Any chance your friend is still making them? Anybody else have a line one one? Thanks in advance.
