neat! looked at a DH in a gun shop yesterday and it had an engraved shield. we were unable to decipher the engraving. When the owner has his name or initials engraved own the shield of a Parker its shows pride of ownership.

George P., you can get information on prominent three initial persons on google. One site list them in alphabetical order. Very useful. I have pinned down shooters by comparing initials to names from older ATA and Interstate Association records. It helps to know where the gun came from when using the trapshooting records, but not neccesary.

The only gun I have with an engraved oval is one of my HJ Hussey Imperials. Trying to track down the family to which the crest belongs in hopes of finding for whom the gun was built. The motto translates to "I shall be given to he who perseveres."

Thanks Wayne- that reminds me I have a two barrel DHE with an engraved shield for a fellow in Lacon, Illinois and the order reflects that.
It is on consignment with Steve Barnett.
Maybe Steve will send me a picture.
I bought the gun from Oscar Gaddy.

Default DHE shield

My great grandfathers DHE (1907) 12 ga has a shield with his initials and address. The initials are JCM for J C Mabrey of Albia, IA.

Wayne, is the gun you picture Dr. Kales' single barrel #235,793? If so, PM me so we can discuss.
