Craig. Before I built mine I looked at the rem. and the CVA Paramont. I called rem and they said that their gun was not designed for smokeless powder. I chose not to second guess their engineers. They wouldn't tell me what their barrel steel was or the material the breech plug is made of. The one guy that I know is converting the 700 ultimate is changing the breech plugs and maybe the barrels. His name is Jeff Hankins. He knows what he is doing. And thank you charlie for the kind words.

That seems pretty close to my 460 Weatherby , I think it will push the 300gr ttsx at 3100 fps .

I had at one point wanted a smokeless muzzleloader but couldnt find anyone who could build one like I wanted .

Sounds like a great round for Fred Flintstone to take down Brontosaurus with!

Daryl,

Sorry I missed your request back in November.

Savage Smokeless Load:

40 grains 4759
.45 cal. (.452) 250 grain HP/XTP
Muzzleload Magnum Products (MMP) .50 black sabot (the only one Savage recommended)
WW 209 primer

This will blow a hole in a deer at close range.

You may be right Charlie. I haven't seen him since.
