Doc, The "XU" that you referred to is not the grade. This mark appears on guns prior to about 10,000 serial number. We really are not sure what they mean other than possibly inspectors marks or some internal code. I have owned guns with this stamp and have viewed a few others but they were always early guns.

Doc, the 5535 is probably the order number, The unstuck barrel weight was 4lbs 10 oz
