Default NEW MEMBER WITH DOLLAR GRADE QUESTIONS

I recently found my first Parker Dollar Grade SXS. I have attached a few pics with all the letters and numbers I could find. I know the serial# is 3684, manufacture date of 1874. The letter/number GF28 is on the forpiece and receiver and barrel. Also an S with a star underneath on receiver. There is a light stamp of the word Belgium on the barrel. A circle with E, L, G, with a star underneath the letters. The number 17.4 on the barrel, plus a few other letters and numbers. The words laminated barrel on the barrel. Can anyone help identify what these number/letters mean. I'm also wondering if there would be parts for this gun, a firing pin, and maybe the piece that keeps the trigger cocked. Thanks Gary

Welcome to the board!
The gun you have is not a Parker Bros. shotgun. Your double is a Belgium made gun, thus the Belgium proof marks. There may be someone here that can give you information on this.

David you have pretty much nailed it. This gun as well as many others were knock offs made in Belgium and stamped with names such as Parker, Barker, W. Richards to capitalize on the famous named makers in America and England. While I would shoot a Parker Brothers Damascus barreled gun I would not shoot this one. This is pretty general information and possibly somebody else can elaborate further.
