Default SBT cocking hook

I guess it's called the cocking hook. I just got the barrel back from being rust blued and can't get it to lock into the receiver. I try to close it and it stops in just a little bit . If I remove the piece from the barrel that looks like a backwards letter C that is spring loaded, it will go down in the receiver. I don't claim to be a gunsmith, but I've had quite a few guns apart without a lot of trouble. I just can't see how it's suppose to close and or hook on something. The area down in the receiver has a shinny piece slopping down, that I can lift the front of and it rotates around a screw coming in from the side of the receiver and it pulls a plate sliding forward in the bottom of the receiver. There are two tinny slots in it with small bumps sticking out. Anyways, this piece seems to be in the way of the cocking hook . I just don't see what the hook should or can hook on to. Any help would be appreciated. I hope what I've described makes sense.
