Meaning of "close" in reference to choke?

Default Meaning of "close" in reference to choke?

I have seen Parker letters where they refer to the choke constriction as "close" and "closer".

Specifically the "close" was the RH and the "closer" was the LH.

Could someone please enlighten me on these specifications?
