Default Po' Southern Boy DIY Set

After looking for a hammer gun for about a year, I bid on this Edgar Harrison at Morphy's and was amazed to win it. It was hard to pull out of a shearling lined gun sleeve due to having hammers, so I got it a hard case. The case looked real empty, so I got it an oil bottle and a striker jar and some snap caps. The lid was pretty barren too, so I found a vintage label for it at Gunnerman Books. Bought some hide glue to stick it in with. Then my glasses were rattling around in their compartment, so I bought a scrap of burled walnut veneer and glued up and oil finished a little lid for it. Needed a knob, so I bought a silver cuff link bezel and some jewelers resin and made me one. Great fun every step of the way.

After many years of entertaining fantasies as I paged thru Julia and Morphy auction catalogs, lo and behold I stumbled across this 12 bore tucked in between a bunch of hammer guns that cost more than my truck. Josh Lowensteiner wrote an accurate (and beguiling) description so I put in a bid.
The gun is a 30 inch damascus, reproofed in Birmingham for 2 3/4 nitro loads.
It was redone in London and sold by Holts some years ago. wide ope and lt. modified chokes. Edgar Harrison was with Cogswell and Harrison for 50 years. He was chairman for 42 years. He was president of everything gunmaking in London for a long time. I am quite happy with my purchse.

That's a beauty, and with a personalized case, who could ask for more?! Very nice work on that case, BTW.
