Destry, I've never seen a British flare cartridge in shotgun bores, but have seen the 1 1/2" variety.
This is a WW2 era Very cartridge, 10ga. I found this one in an old hunting vest, so I guess some waterfowlers thought to carry them 'just in case'.

thanks edgar for the fine display of shells...some of these ive never seen.. i truly liked thatodd looking slug wonder how accurate it was in a gun rifled at the end of the barre;...i too collect a few old shells but there just the general run of the mill.... charlie

Edgar,

I've got a couple of oddball flare rounds in shotgun bore but that one marked Wildfowler would just be the greatest thing ever. I know it exists because I've seen a picture of it. Do you have any idea what the VFM means on that round you picture?
