Default First outing of the year.

Ducks opened yesterday but I haven't been out as we spent all day helping friends move cattle off the mountain. Bird numbers are down locally and migration still a ways off. Dry conditions are making it hard to fill my ponds. Its taking more water and therefore more $.
Did take the pup for a walk this AM, cheked water and carried the new (to me) 32" DHE. I had 6 #2 Bismuth handloads in 1 pocket and 6 #5 NICE shot handloads in the other. Water is coming up but saw no ducks. Three geese decided to fly over me. I had time to slip in the #2s and only two geese made it by. Should have had a double but was thoroughly impressed with the "dead in the air" demise of the one I brought to bag. Can't wait to put this one to further use. Will be going for ducks Wednesday and may set up for geese in my pasture if they keep with their current flight plan.
Here is a picture. Notice the red varmint in the background! Also, for some reason my hair keeps getting grayer in these photos?

Kinda looks like an armadillo... but different somehow.

But that thing lends new meaning to those old cowboy words "Get a loong little doggie."

They can't be all bad, the germans used them to hunt badgers!
