How about Vulcan, as in the barrel steel?

Hopefully your new pup will hunt well and have nerves of steel.

I have a list of Dan Lefever's setters around here somewhere but can't put my hands on it right now.

I think your getting the cart ahead of the horse or the name ahead of the dog. get the pup and spend some time with him, Learn his personality and the correct name will come to you.

If we had used that process my little brother would be called Sh*thead.

If you're any sort of a traditionalist, and it's a Llewellin setter use a derivation of its pedigree name. If it's just an ES, any name will do.

I think that a dog should earn their name. Had a lab that was named Holly that came from Hollywood S.C. A deerhound that rode out a hurricane in Gulfport, Miss. that became Gulfport. A Boykin that was B B ( not after the blues singer) Someone said that the pup was much larger than a B B. Pointers called Lulubell, Sam, Kate. Am down to a Boykin called Bay( short for baby girl) She picked over 375 birds as a 2 year old. Am retired and hunt alot and when not shooting, we pick up for tower shoots at Prairie Wildlife. Hunting is better with Parker and dog.

I couldn't agree more. When I had the litter Gunner came from I was playing with them in the basement. One was missing. I searched around and there was the first borne sniffing at the open gun safe, hence the name Gunner.

A name should fit the individual dog.
