Default Help with BHE Ser # 242100

The serial number noted in the title is not listed in the directory of numbers at the PGCA site. I tried one other site (name escapes me) and all I could get is its a post 1934 vintage Remington Parker. I would like to nail down the actual date of manufacture if this is possible. The gun was made in Illion, not Meriden. That much I do know at this point.

At one time, I owned a new in the box V grade Parker, serial 242103. A letter from Remington accompanied the gun confirming a build/ship date of April, 1941. Your gun was probably made within a couple of months of that date.

The Parker Gun Identification & Serialization book shows Remington production for 1939 - 1942 as 241418 through 242487 but there is no breakdown by year, so 41 - 42 is a good guess from that range.

Have you checked with Griffin & Howe's research chairman Bob Beach?
