Default Lifter Issues

A lifter is supposed to close without having to push the lifter up correct ?

So generally if that's the case , is there not a little spring in there somewhere that's generally the culprit ?

When you push the lifter up to open the barrels, the lifter tab should stay in the up position, that keeps the bolt retracted. If the lifter tab comes back down with the barrels open, you can't close the barrels because the bolt is is in the way. My guess is that the trip is gummed up, rusted, or the small spring is missing or broken.

It's the spring. You can use one from a ball point click pen.

The trip springs can break, they can wear out, or they can get so packed up with crud that they don't work right.

The tooth on the trip or the slot for it in the bolt can be messed up too. But it is more than likely spring related.
