Default End of KS Season and Parkers

Four of us ended the Kansas season, Charlie Herzog, Dave Weber, Calvin Humburg and Bruce Day. End of season hunting is always tough but this year with the drought and heat this summer meant the bird populations were the lowest I have ever seen. It will take several years to build back to decent hunting in Kansas if we get rain and normal temperatures.

We were hunting in northwest Kansas where I usually do well.

There are a couple photos of the old cars that are still in the old small town dealerships out here.

There are some photos of a couple of Calvin's Parkers, a C Bernard and a D hammer gun, both outstanding guns. The last are Dave's GHE 16ga. Charlie and I shot our old wallhanger beaters. Its nice to see at last some decent Parkers out on the high plains. We usually don't get to see much out here.

It's good to see Calvin out there with you guys!

I want that '66 Chevelle... I see a for sale sign in the windshield - what's the price tag?

Dean, When I bought my new 67 SS 396 the sticker price was $3200. I traded my 63 split window Vette. The dealer gave me $2500 for the Vette and it was a good deal at the time. How times (and prices) have changed!!

I've had a few production "rods" and only wish I still had them.

'65 GTO with "trips"

'65 Chevelle with warmed-up 350 with 350 HP cam, headers and a Holly 650 cfm

'67 Chevelle with the same engine after the '65 was totalled

....just to name a few.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.

Well, at least you got out. No birds at all?

Does Charlie own a green MG yet? Looks like good habitat and fun, birds or not. Sorry I missed it but shoulder surgery called. Won't be shooting for a while.

The hunt was capital, great guns excellent dogs, great times just talkin. If you have to kill to have a good hunt, well I'll pass. Would of like to seen Richard make it so I'll put him in. The cars were in a different town. Beaters, we all know better. No wild game to eat, Hey I like chicken and beef every time. Oh I pick the 68 RS Chevelle eater. Well I will add my pictures when I get them small enough, going to plan 3. Hum, where did that come from a little to small I'd say. Sure would be nice if you could take off your mistakes.

Calvin's photos:

The American cars were in an old Chevy/GM dealership in Norton, KS.

Charlie has not pursued the 1934 MG. I encouraged him to look at a Mustang convertible from the 60's.....easy to fix and he can get parts anywhere. The fellows on the racing team could fix anything on it. Charlie's son was national dirt track racing driver champion last year in the Sportsman's Class.

Dave Weber officiates HS sports in his spare time and was Missouri official of the year.

And in case anybody missed it, here is another photo of Calvin's new old C grade Bernard. Light gun , skeleton butt, on a rare 1 1/2 frame, this is only the second 1 1/2 frame Bernard I've seen. Very nice gun with extraordinary, high quality, stock cheek checkering but we have seen C's before with unusual checkering. Calvin has nice, collector level guns.
