Default 28 ga. chokes??

Just shot a round of clays with my new (to me) 28 ga. Reproduction. Real windy day but I beat the .12's and 20's on the squad. Over a beer the subject of chokes came up. I'm shooting a quail 1 and 2 on my 28. Where does this fit with cylinder, imp cylinder, mod. ect. I've looked on line with no success but I guess the only thing dummer than asking such a basic question is not asking and remaining ignorant.
Thanks
Gary

We've been over this topic here before and we discussed the choke constriction in thousandths of an inch. Some of us measured our Repros with Q1 and Q2 chokes but I don't recall the exact dimensions. Tom Skeuese developed the terms Quail-1 and Quail-2 intending them to be close to Skeet Out and Skeet In or WS1 and WS2 which essentially are skeet or close upland bird chokes.

My 28-ga. Repro Q1/Q2 chokes measure .004/.008 of constriction. I would equate them to SK1/SK2.

I think mine are something like .003" and .008"

I think we got about three or four different measurements but essentially the same and if they all had been measured by the same guy with the same tool may all be identical.

Just feel lucky you don't have the 28" modified and full barrels which max out in the mid thirties. I haven't yet patterned my kind of new Spanish 28 which is choked at .039 in the left barrel. Plastic wads probably start to melt as they squeeze through the choke in that barrel.

I've printed a board with my 28" 28ga full/mod and found it had decent distribution, albeit tight.

The IMP/MOD chokes on my 28 ga. Repro are about as tight as I would ever need for my purposes.

I have measured my 28,20,16 ga. PR guns with Q1/Q2 chokes. .003 to .004 on the right barrels and solid .006 on the left all gauges. Very usefull on early grouse and woodcock in the P.A. woods! Most of the factory made Q1/Q2 had 26" barrels but I was lucky several years back and found a DT-PG-SF 20/16 combo set that have both barrels 28" long and chokes Q1/Q2 its a fantastic set that I have had great pleasure hunting with. Killed my first grouse with the 16 set and my first pointed woodcock with a 28ga. Q1/Q2. Gotta love them repro's....(-: SXS ohio

Interesting...the right barrel tighter than the left on the "Q" choked guns?
