I have owned 7 16 gauge hammer guns with Damascus barrels, all of them on the 0-frame, but I’ve only ever seen 4 that were 1-frame guns. Jimmy Hall had a beautiful high-condition one on the 1-frame about 10 years ago but I don’t know how long the barrels were.

Judging by my own experience I would guess that 50% of the guns in question were made on the 0-frame, 40% were made on the 1-frame while the remaining 10% were on mixed frame sizes other than the 0 and 1 sizes.

JMHO - no actual science involved.

Dean that seems like a good guess. 16g guns shading on one side or the other of 6.5 lbs with some overlap in the middle statistically. Long barrels, short barrels, balance, stock density, availability, schedule, gun maker mood etc, all likely a factor in frame selection at manufacture.
