When I went to the VC at Ernie's in 2019 I thought attendance was about the same as the June shoot with a little different mix of people. I always thought the shoot was too close to the start of bird/small game season for many people, especially those who have take vacation days to hunt.

I wonder if the ammo shortage is having any effect?

Hopefully the forecast improves, if not think of all the primers and powder we will save

However many are there won’t stop our crew! I have seven events to shoot Thursday so if you want to chat it’ll be later in the day. Like the Lone Ranger, it’ll be a cloud of dust and a hardy “Hi -Ho Silver, away!!”

RST posted the following on FB this morning. Three box limit per shooter.

RST is at Hausmann Hidden Hollows Sporting Clays.
35m · Friendsville, PA ·
Thank you to the Vintage Gunners for providing powder so we could load shells for the SxS Championship this week. There is a limited supply, so we will have a limit of 3 boxes of shells to make it fair.
Hope to see a lot of you there.

I was noodling over some classic upland literature this evening, and….

It may be of interest to competitors in the Fox Upland Gun Championship that the 6 lbs. 13 oz. max gun weight, whatever the official calculation for the rule was, accords exactly with the upper limit of these venerable specs. :

“…and many an enthusiastic grouse hunter, who finds a twelve too much of a load late on an October day, will get along very well with a gun weighing six and a half or six and three quarters." -- William Harnden Foster, NEW ENGLAND GROUSE SHOOTING, page 96.

THE "RULES" Need TO BE Changed! Hell I Never Hunted with a 6-13oz. gun.

Looks like I'm off the fence, will be leaving early tomorrow morning, getting there around 12:30. Traveling light, no Gator, no setters, not camping out, only bringing a few guns and staying in Vestal . Not going to shoot a whole lot, just need to be around friends and hopefully meet some new ones--Andy Sacco, when will you be there?
Leaving mid/late Fri. afternoon for home.
