I watch for nice 16s, especially those with Damascus, Twist, etc. barrels, and I can say I do not see many in this grade for sale, with or without the nice twist barrels. Beyond the dents, which are hard to assess without seeing them, the gun appears (by your description) to be a nice example. The PH 16s that I have seen for sale over the last year or so have had asking prices closer to Craig's $2200. That does not mean that's what they are going for. Check some of the sites that offer Parkers. I've watched two PH 16s, one with Twist barrels and the other with fluid steel, for a few months (so that means they did not sell quickly). They were both above $2K. Again, I don't know if they sold and/or for what price.

I'd bid on the gun if I were you. If you get it, you'll know that at least one other person thought it worth almost the same as what you bid. It would be nice to know the barrel wall thickness and have some professional assessment of those dents you describe.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.

I want to thank you all for your thoughts on this.
What is the general consensus regarding removing the small barrel dents? I know it would be easier to answer with pictures, but I won't be able to get more pictures unless I buy it.
Any rough idea on the cost of dent removal?
Thanks again,
Tim

Tim,

I have a worthless friend that keeps having Parkers fall into his lap for near nothing ($300+=). I always get the call to see it and I offer to trade a Mossburg or two, but I am always refused. I have removed more than a few dents for him with my Hosford dent remover. My advice is to find a dumb friend such as myself who will do work for a meal and a beer. I shouldn't think an honest fellow would charge more than $100 to remove three small dents. I would do it for a lot less.

Kindest, Harry

If you go to any of the major SxS events, Jon Hosford is usually at them and I think he charges $50 to do as you watch

Looking at the ph listings on gunsinternational the only one I seen for under 2,000$ was a damascus 12 ga . Now they have a ph in 16 ga listed for 7,900$ but it is in 99% condition .
Says only 114 16 ga ph's were made ? Would make it a rare parkers wouldnt it ?

Well, it's mine now.
I think I did good. with buyer premiums and tax, I ended up with $770 in it.
Here are a couple of shots of the dings in the barrels. They are tiny, but they are there.
Thanks for all the replies!

It looks like those dents should protrude into the bore and they should be lifted properly... NOT honed so they no longer show in the bore.
