Default A week in grouse country

I just returned from a week in Great Lakes grouse country. The weather was excellent as was the hunting. I was able to make some great memories with my young dogs and my favorite old bird gun.

I'm finding time spent with the older dogs is the most precious, knowing the number of hunts left with them is limited.
I'd like to nominate that picture as the next one for the home page.

This trip was to a friends cabin. I hunted with two older friends (69 & 72) both facing some recent health scares.

We hunted 3-4 hours each afternoon.

We experienced a fair bit of hunter interference in the sense that many of the sports we wanted to hunt were already occupied. We just started hunting less attractive coverts and had them to ourselves.

We found good numbers of grouse and very few woodcock.

Here are a few more photos.
