Default Jeffreys sxs today

I was hunting quail this afternoon at Myles Standish and ran into a nice gent who was carrying a 12 ga sxs Jeffrey's double gun. (I may be spelling Jeffreys incorrectly) Anyway, it was all original with straight grip english style stock. Engraving on it was still clean and crisp. Untouched. Very nice sxs. First that I've seen. I invited the gent to hunt with me and my setter later this week.
Just love to see sxs's in the field and meet folks who appreciate them.

A guy on the 16ga site used to talk about his "Wee Jeff". Saw some pics of it; sweet little gun!

Garth, I only shoot 20 ga on quail with 7 1/2 or 8 shot. Depe6on my whim of the day, I may use a 20 ga Trojan with 26 inch barrels, or 20 Repro or my 20 GH.

Are the quail wild or stocked?

Nice to know you can still shoot quail in Mass. It’s been many years since I heard quail on the cape.

Steve, the quail are stocked by the state at a number of game management areas. 3 times per week during the season. Myles Standish, Crane reservation and other areas

Huh... I didn't know MA was stocking quail at Crane.
I used to hunt there a lot in my 30's and 40's but there were too many hunting in there for my liking, LOTS of gunfire ALL the time and I saw some weird stuff being done by weird people. Haven't been back since.
