Default Northern zone NY opener - Doc reaches out

Craig (Doc) Larter and I started the 2021 season up in the northern zone this past weekend. We hunted a marsh about 1 mile north of Oneida lake - wood ducks only - (although we did see a group of mallards flying high)
Anyway we shot our birds.

The highlight of the morning was Doc reaching out to 50+ yards on a pair of drakes and giving them the tumbleweed treatment with one shot!!
What a site to witness! He watched the gap close and timed it perfect!
Nelly of course made the retrieves at 60+ and we were all smiles!
Just when I thought I had seen it all in a duck blind.

Big Fun! Can't wait till Saturday and we try them again!

Fox Sterlingworth 12ga 30", my marsh gun when the conditions are ugly. Boss #4's 1 1/4oz with fiber wads. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good LOL.

I know! I killed two turkeys with one head shot in Spring 2020.
