The KRR3 marking on the left barrel flat is a Remington repair code, so the gun was to Ilion in May 1946. Unfortunately no records survive/are available to say what was done, but that may account for the cyanide case colors.

That being said, I would hope the OP would use it as a buying experience or perhaps talk to the seller about misrepresentation. Personally, I hate seeing someone giving up on Parkers. We all have made mistakes. I buy "shooters" and half my buddies who see them wonder if I'm nuts because they're not "pristine." I'm not a safe queen guy. At the very least I hope the OP would make it shoot safely and use her as Mr Parker intended. Nothing to be embarrassed about, there is a LOT to learn. Ask me how I know.
What bothers me is someone running their mouth when they have no clue what the situation is.

Ok so here is what I've been able to find out. The gun was bought new @ 1930 by someone who ended up going to war in the 1940's and unfortunately was KIA. His wife kept all his guns through the time she passed away a few years back. She supposedly just kept them "put away". A friend of mine that knew the wife bought several of the guns at an estate sale. This friend of mine now has cancer and asked me to sale the gun so he can pay some bills. He is a veitnam vet. I'm just gathering all the info I can on the gun before I try to sale it for him. I may even buy it myself but I want to make sure I don't cut him short. I do appreciate all the feed back. I have been reading everything and just didn't want to reply until I had all the information I could get. Please keep on posting any information you guys have, it has helped me tremendously.

I was wondering what that was for. Thanks

Yes I have tightened it since the pics. Thanks on the VHE/VH clarification.

The butt plate is probably original but not original to your gun. The border has been removed in fitting it to that stock.

I wish that Remington date code could talk…

.
Yes I wish it could tell me something too. I did find out the Rem code is from 1946.

I'm thinking of taking the gun to an appraiser just to see what they say. Does anyone know of a good Parker appraiser in the area of North Carolina? I've found one or two firearm appraisers through google.

And to the west in Nashville, TN is John Allen, you are between two people that know Parker’s (guns).
