I had a set of these from Galazan. They worked very well though I did sell the gun. Lou told me when I ordered them that they came from Merkel.

I pulled my records of my Galazan 16ga. barrels and my hand writen note does say made by Merkel, info from Lou at time of order. The Galazan receipt does not mention who made them....I also checked the barrels for any type proof or factory stampings...nothing there except 0083 must be the production amount number? Anyway Merkel it is...they are hi-quality and shoot very hard! Merkel guns are known to shoot very tight paterns....I sold a 280EL couse it shot like a rifle!, I could not hit with that gun as it shot very tight paterns....SXS ohio...(-:

Kenny,

I have to agree that they work; mine absolutely destroyed targets and also effectively killed pheasant. They were as I recall mod and full.

Mine were fitted at Galazan and Lou took it out and shot the gun before he sent it back. His words to me were that it absolutely "crushed targets".

I also have a Merkel 280 I miised with some last summer; now I have a new excuse tight chokes.

I'll vouch for the quality of Merkel bbls. I had a 147EL 12ga that had bbls that were as nice as I've ever seen, inside and out. Bore polish was blinding. Never seen better on anything.
