Default Transition Lifter Project

I couldn’t help myself on this one. Serial# 24578 a Grade 2, #2 frame 12ga. Lifter with 30” Damascus barrels with the new check-hook barrels and improved firing pin design. The gun is in nice shape all things considered. I was thinking that someone not to different than myself took it apart and lost some of the parts.

It needs all of the lock and hammer components on the right side. I am going to see if I can have a replacement hammer made. It is also missing(or it just needs) trigger return springs. There is a dent in the right tube about 12” from the muzzle that should be repairable.

Having said all of the above, I like it a lot. It looks like it was used, but not abused. I posted a picture of the letter. I think it is neat that the accessories are listed with the order.

I was thinking that the price of the gun should be $80 instead of $60. Do you think Parker was selling Lifters at a discount to get rid of inventory as they were about to roll out the new Top Action design(even though this one has some “new” technology)?

Very interesting. I saw that one but did not notice the transitional features.

Default Grade 2

Great find and great project. The gun has solid bones and oozes class.

Dave Fjelline makes various designs of Parker hammers and can duplicate the engraving too. I wouldn't be surprises if he has, or can make, the other parts you need too.

I love the high level of engraving of the grade-2's of that period... extra, extra nice!

I think this will be a keeper when all the issues are fixed. The gun is tight, the bores look real good except for the dent I mentioned. I have been thinking the gun couldn't have been used too much. It will be nice to get back in the field again.

Dean, thanks for the recommendation on the hammer replacement, that is who I will use.

Here is a much better hammerless lifter than mine(which is already on it'sway to getting fixed...and getting a new hammer):
