Phil, you might give Dave M. a call. Ask him about Kipp Wood up in Michigan. He does some great work and his prices won't leave you feeling gouged.

If I am not mistaken Marlin glued the vent ribs on the reintroduced L.C. Smiths and they had problems with them breaking loose. However, adhesives are so much better fifty years later. I'd go with the Loctite 380 since they make great products If it is clean before you glue, you should not have a problem. What do you have to loose?
