Two C 16’s:

Left 1903, recolored by Bachelder in 2016.

Right 1910. Original

Bruce,

The recolored gun colors look subdued and not vivid. Have you carried the gun a lot since the recase was done? Was there any lacquer protection applied to the frame?

The gun on the left has been carried some but I usually carry a gun cross body and not with hand around the frame. Edges always thin quickly.

No lacquer protection on any of mine.

I love the long flute early frames. Im sure I would have been delighted with his work if that were my gun. I know he did a wonderful job on my Grade 2 hammer 16

So Bruce, is there and 'issue' with these?? Or is this just referring to the case color issue in general. They look good to me.

No. Just that case colors are a recurring issue or topic on this forum . Lots of discussions about whose are the most authentic.
