Default Missing topic.

I had seen a recent post from a forum associate about two Parkers, as I recall, a 3 frame D, and a fairly nice old hammer gun. I was hoping to see more, better pictures, but I can't find the thread.

No wonder I couldn't find it. Must have crossed a line.

The guy was looking for an estimate of value. I made a guess for him. Not sure what rules were broken unless I missed a later post.

Yeah, I'm guessing he did something after I had seen the thread.
The forum visitors often bring some interesting topics, stories, and ideas to the table. I just wish they would spend a minute reading the rules.
I make myself nervous sometimes, because I love sipping a glass or two of something, while reading the pages here. Sometimes I have an OMG moment, hoping I didn't post anything on those evenings when the third glass got poured ; -0

It is MY opiniin, that everyone who posts “just looking for a value” is in actuality, simply looking to sell. And things end up going downhill fast.

I see nothing wrong with asking an approx value . Regardless of what the persons reason is . I watched that post and he said nothing in the thread that seemed out of line . If “I” ask a value it’s because I wanna know if I got taken or what I should expect to pay .

It happens a lot, people post asking a value and people message them offering to buy it which negates the forum rules.

Heck, when I first posted my 1st VH I bought and people asked what I paid, I got messaged by a forum member or 2 offering to buy it for more then I paid. I entirely understand not permitting the whats it worth post.

That's no different then any other forum .

Same thing happened to me on another forum I posted a few pics of the VHE 20 right after we got it and a guy bugged the heck out of me about the gun . He made an offer that I thought was over the top , I didn't accept it but I truly believe he was just blowing smoke .

But I also see nothing wrong with asking what a fair market value of such and such grade in say average condition . I would ask something like that before I went looking just to make sure what I thought was inline with the market .

There is often a lot that goes on behind the scenes that we are usually not privy to. In this particular instance, that's exactly what went on. He was attempting to conduct his own private silent auction. Fully a day before he made that post questioning value, he had offered it to a friend and a very reasonable offer was made by our friend. He then came on the forum attempting to get PM bids.
