The display fee for the tailgate is by the day. Spectators and buyers are no charge at the tailgate.

As always, I went, bought a table, displayed a table stacked up with the best gun cases ever made by man, sold two, gave up after two days, went home Saturday night and did not return. This show is not what is used to be. Two of the vendors had very nice collector Winchester shotguns, but no double guns.

Au contrere (sp?) mon frere - there was one very nice AH Fox AE Grade 12 ga 30" PG SFE with great wood and nice engraving at a very reasonable (I thought) @ $2K, a nice 12 ga. Damascus GH Parker with great wood @ $750, and an ultra rare near mint Winchester M24 SxS 20 ga. with 2 sets of barrels, all matching, with pristine wood. Also an LC Smith Field Grade 12 ga/ with 2 sets of barrels with separate forends in very nice condition for $950.

In retrospect, I don't think any show is "what it used to be" anymore, thanks to the Internet, which has unarguably revolutionized the gun trade. IMHO, the key to any degree of success at these local "firehouse" shows anymore is careful advance planning and realistic pricing relative to clientele. Caveat (whatever Latin is for 'seller')!

Purveyeur...?

Isn't French one of the "Romance" languages?
