Default Las Vegas Antique Arms show 1/21-1/23/2022

Role call for the Vegas show! Who has made plans to attend?

I’ll be a new vendor this year with a lavish 12 table spread. I’ve got one of the top collections of LC Smith shotguns ever assembled to offer at the show and will have a vast assortment of those on display as well as a lot of other choice American doubles. I will be in section B, row E tables 1-12.

I hope to see many of you there!

What seems like just a few years ago, Vegas was a great trip for my friends and me. However, I am 76 and have run out of friends that are interested. $59 hotel rooms, cheap airfare from the east coast, packing empty gun cases, drinks at the Crash Bar in the Riviera, dollar hot dogs at the Marilyn Monroe snack bar. One return trip on Southwest, the lone hostess asked our group to handle the rear bar because they were short handed and couldn't man both ends of the plane. I asked how much to charge for a drink. She said we would not charge for drinks. No danger of disgruntled passengers on our end. Buying a nice double ended piece of English for $115 from the man from Oregon. He said he would ship it because it wouldn't fit in my case. It arrived in MD unhindered by packing material with my name and address written on the wood in black magic marker. Half of it is now fitted to my prewar Midas Superposed. I looked at a Super Fox and was dithering when a hand rested on my shoulder. He said he would take it if I didn't. That cinched the purchase of my first Super. The hand belonged to Tom Kidd. There is no end to stories about Winter Vegas. Wish I were going.

I've been to the last 25 Las Vegas January gun shows.

Looks like I'll miss the one coming up next year.

Dam.

My one and only attempt to go to it was snafued due to a freak snowstorm that prevented my flight form leaving Augusta, GA and going to Charlotte, and from there to Vegas. This was a couple years ago. It just wasn't meant to be. Flights just don't get cancelled due to snow and ice in Augusta.

Trying to decide about this year. The big drawback for me this go 'round is the mask mandate for flights. if it wasn't for that, I'd book my room tonight. But, because of it, I'll likely stay home.
