should be a 12 ga with 30 in laminated barrels

looks like a grade 1 -

nice fishtail lever hammer gun- obviously missing at least one hammer screw

what are the bores like?

any cracks in the wood?

I can't get beyond the first picture. Laminated Steel, 4 pounds, 9 ounces unstruck weight, probably a 12 gauge.

The bore looks pretty good. I'm out of town right now but I'll post a pic when I can. The wood is in great shape. Here are two additional photos I intended to add to the first set of pics.

Sell it to me- lol. Family gun I would have it look at by Brian or Brad and bring it to glory, 2nd join PGCA and order letter and shoot the heck out of it. Great gun to be handed down!
Just me.

Here is some specific info from what I could find via the identification methods on the main site:
Grade 1
made in 1888 (serial 54xxx)
30" Barrels
Top lever

The gun appears to be in pretty good condition, though it has been sitting around for a while. The bore looks good, didn't see much, if any, pitting. The wood looks to be in great shape. The butt plate is pretty worn, the bird dog is pretty difficult to make out.

What I would like to know:
Barrel metal type?
Worth?
How should I care for the gun?

Thanks all!

It's worth about $1000 plus or, more likely, minus $200. It appears the checkering has been worn, or sanded, off which doesn't help matters.

It's a little interesting in that it is right near the end of pre-hammerless production but that doesn't add any value.

Thanks all!

the information i gave before is from the serialization book-

Laminated is the barrel steel type - a form of composite as is twist or damascus.

as for care- if you intend to shoot it - have it checked by a competent gunsmith, if it passes muster- get some light loads such as RST

http://www.rstshells.com/

and enjoy

cleaning is no different than any gun-
