Another non Parker
My favorite gauge for upland is the 16. My favorite load for the 16 is the old 2 1/2 drahm 1 ounce of 7-1/2's or 6's. Here is a photo of my last two wild pheasant taken with OH NO! an LC Smith field grade 16 choked as usual full & full. I've taken a lot of game with this gun, pheasant, quail and lots of Chukar. The real star in the picture is "Penny" my first Britt. She was hands down the very best upland dog I ever hunted over. Lost her 14 years ago, I miss her more than I can say. This day we hunted a willow patch and hadn't covered more than 50 yards when Penny got birdy and up came bird #1 headed across the river. One shot, dead bird. Another few seconds the second rooster got up and again headed across the river. Second barrel dead bird. They fell not 20 feet apart on the bank. Penny made her usual perfect retrieve on both and I just had to take her picture. I've had two more Britts and both were wonderful dogs but, not even in the same league as old Penn. A man is privileged to have one outstanding dog in his life she was mine.
